A peninsula on the far side of the San Andreas Fault, moving northwest about two inches a year.

The 1906 earthquake moved the peninsula 20 feet in seconds, and a fence on the Earthquake Trail still shows the offset.
Its lighthouse sits below 300 steps on one of the windiest, foggiest points on the coast.
Sir Francis Drake may have landed here in 1579.
