Pioche, Nevada

Lincoln County · Population 793 · Card no. 10742

A silver town in eastern Nevada that was among the most violent in the west in the 1870s.

Local legend holds that 75 men were buried in Boot Hill before anyone died of natural causes.
The Million Dollar Courthouse cost so much to finance that the debt outlasted the building's use.
Aerial tramway towers still stand above the town.
