The southernmost town on the Oregon coast, in a banana belt where winter temperatures run far above the rest of the state.

Most of the nation's Easter lily bulbs are grown here.
A Japanese floatplane dropped incendiary bombs in the forest nearby in 1942, the only aerial bombing of the American mainland in the war.
The pilot returned in 1962 and gave the town his family sword.
