The westernmost incorporated city in the contiguous United States, on an open coast with no protected harbor.

Fishing boats are lifted in and out of the water by crane, one of very few ports in the country to do so.
Battle Rock, at the edge of town, is where settlers fought the Qua-to-mah in 1851.
Port Orford cedar is named for the town.
