A Blue Mountains gold town with an enormous dredge preserved where it stopped working.

The Sumpter Valley Dredge, which chewed through the valley floor until 1954, is now a state heritage area.
The Sumpter Valley Railway runs steam excursions.
The town burned in 1917 and never fully recovered.
