Bridgeport, Washington

A Columbia River town below Chief Joseph Dam, which was built here in the 1950s and is still one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the country.

The dam has no fish ladder, which makes it the upper limit of salmon migration on the Columbia.
The town was platted in 1892 as a steamboat landing.
Orchards fill the benchland above the river.
