Colfax, Washington

The Whitman County seat, in a narrow valley where the Palouse River cuts through the wheat hills.

It is named for Schuyler Colfax, vice president under Grant.
The Perkins House, built in 1886, is kept as a museum.
The town has flooded more than once, which is why parts of it sit above the street.
