Issaquah, Washington

A mining and logging town in a valley between the Issaquah Alps, now a fast-growing Eastside city.

The name is from a Salish word, often rendered as the sound of birds.
Salmon return each fall to the hatchery in the middle of town, and the Salmon Days festival marks it.
Coal was mined here into the 1940s.
