About 1952 · Card no. 5045
Azaleas came from a nursery boom. Southern growers mass-produced the hardy hybrids in the 1930s and 40s, and small towns planted them in squares by the hundred because they bloom all at once, which makes a festival possible.
The town is invented. Everything in the paragraph above it is not. Every card here is an original painting, free to send by email or by link.
